Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs) and Pre and Post Frenectomy Therapy

Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTs) is the restriction of the frenulum, which are small folds of tissue that connect bone to tissue and support or limit movement. A frenectomy is the removal of a frenulum, which is done by a peadiatrician or a paediatric dentist. Oral motor work and/or Myofunctional therapy is essential pre- and post- frenectomy to ensure optimal outcomes and the achievement of long-term goals. Optimal timing of release is also an important consideration.
